Honorary Mayor of Middleborough Inauguration

Tuesday, April 4, 2017 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Tuesday, April 4 is the night of the Honorary Mayor of Middleborough Inauguration. It will be held at the Middleborough Town Hall Ballroom. The winner, once sworn in, will ceremoniously represent Middleborough at several events throughout their year-long term (that is, until Inauguration Day 2018). Prizes for the winner will be presented this evening, all donated by the greater Middleborough community.

While we aim to simulate a real election, this contest is a fundraiser. Votes for Honorary Mayor are cast in dollars. Voters can be organizations, companies, and people. Whoever raises the most money earns the title. Yes, this is an election that can be bought.

This contest is sponsored by the Friends of Middleborough Cemeteries (FoMC), a charity that works to provide assistance to all of Middleborough's 35+ cemeteries. We provide Community Service Opportunities. We mow grass, rake leaves, and address trees. We repair fences and clean headstones. We commemorate Veterans by flagging gravesites and addressing issues with medallions. The monies raised make all of the efforts of our Volunteers possible. Additionally, in 2017, we will begin learning how to reset and repair headstones. The training and supplies will be expensive, but we believe that it's worth doing. These are the deeds that all candidates will be working to enable.
