The MHS Concert Band, String Orchestra and Concert Choir invite you to join them for their 9th annual Pops Concert entitled "Animation" on Friday night at 7pm in the Joseph A. Masi Gymnasium.
It will be an evening of music and fun celebrating the iconic musical scores and beloved characters from a variety of Disney movies, TV cartoons, video games and more. Many student performers will be dressed as their favorite animated characters. Audience members of all ages are welcome to do so as well and take part in the night's special costume parade.
Under the musical direction of Justin Pittsley, the MHS String Orchestra will take you on a delightful musical adventure with such songs as 'Figaro, Figaro' from the Barber of Seville (featured in Bugs Bunny), 'Finale' from the William Tell Overture (featured in Mickey Mouse), 'Halo Theme' from Halo Suite, 'Themes from Disney's Fantasia', 'The Spirit of Adventure' from Up and 'The Pink Panther'.
The MHS Concert Band goes retro with a 'Cartoon Symphony', a medley of whimsical tunes from This Is It, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Simpsons, The Pink Panther, Animaniacs and Merrily We Roll Along. You'll hear the 'Pokemon Theme', music from 'The Incredibles', 'Everything is Awesome' from The LEGO Movie, and Frozen favorites 'Do You Want to Build A Snowman?', 'For the First Time in Forever' and 'Let It Go'. Disney fans will love the 'Disney March Spectacular', which includes the 'Mickey Mouse March', 'Colonel Hathi's March' and more. As a special preview of the music students' performance trip to The Big Apple this spring, the band will perform 'A Salute To New York City', while the MHS Concert Choir will sing 'Cantate Domino' by Giuseppe Pitoni. Choral Director, Murray Kidd, will also lead the ensemble in the singing of 'My Shot' from the highly acclaimed Broadway musical, Hamilton.
