The committee is charged with administering funds raised by the Community Preservation Act – CPA – which was adopted by Middleborough by ballot question in 2010. Funds are raised by a 1% surcharge on property tax and matched at a varying level by the state. Besides the matching state funds, CPA money often attracts grants – increasing the value of your CPA dollars even more. CPA funds can only be spent on preservation of open space, historic assets, creation of recreational assets, and community housing.
